One super exciting event during your engagement is getting the chance to have your engagement photos taken! Oftentimes, it also gives you a great chance to get to know your wedding photographer better, have “practice” in front of the camera before the big day and it’s an excuse to get dressed up cute and have photos taken with your fiancé. Who doesn’t love that?
Sometimes though, it can be hard to decide where to go for this special shoot. Below are a few considerations for you to ponder so that you can be sure you pick the right spot for the occasion.
First, is there a location that holds special meaning to you? Chances are, if you and your honey have been together for any length of time, you will have certain locations that you associate with special moments. Maybe it’s where he popped the question… or maybe it’s where you had your first date? Couples have all kinds of places that can hold meaning for different reasons. Of course, sometimes these special locations aren’t accessible for whatever reason. But no worries, you still have options!
What city are you having your photoshoot in? Surely there are some neat local places that could be considered! Maybe you have a charming downtown area, or a beautiful park nearby. Are you nature people or do you prefer the hustle and bustle of a cityscape? Maybe there is a neat historical location that floats your boat! Choosing a spot that feels like “you” and that you are comfortable in will give you photos that look more genuine!
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… Pinterest! Pinterest is an engaged gal’s best friend. What are you drawn to when you see engagement photos online? This is a good indicator of the type of location you should choose for your shoot.
If you are truly stuck, my best advice is to ask your photographer what he or she suggests. Wedding photographers take engagement photos all the time so they will have a ton of ideas. Best of luck and try not to sweat it too much. It’s meant to be fun, after all. 🙂
